Is this a gdpr breach?

My new credit card company sent my new credit card with a large available credit amount to the wrong house. Think 99 instead of 9.
Is this a breach of my data under gdpr and what should I do about it? I'm waiting for a phone call back from the complaints department

So assuming you didn’t make the mistake it is a (small) breach and under GDPR you have a right to have your data corrected and they should do that swiftly.
With regards to recourse you can of course file a complaint but other than an apology and fixing the issue what are you expecting to happen? You’ll also get the line of further training given, tightening up procedures etc. You may get a gesture of good will.
I would personally ask for the account to be closed and set up again in case the cc details have been written down by a potentially dodgy neighbour.

Depends, did you make a mistake when you filled in the application form or is it their error.

No mistake on my part. They have said they duplicated the number in error. They have reissued the card with a new credit card number. Not really sure what I expect to happen from a complaint...I suppose acknowledgement that there was an error on their behalf and to look into why it happened.

They've told you why it happened, someone duplicated the number. You can complain if you wish but it's a relatively minor breach which has already been rectified.

You’ll get some form of acknowledgement of their error. But to be honest you’ll not get anything further as to why it’s happened. It’s human error, someone has keyed it wrong.
I get it’s frustrating and it’s feels annoying but it’s human error and just unfortunate

It's an error. It's not a breach of GDPR.

Thanks all. Appreciate the responses. 👍👍
