Police missed date for postal requisition

I was assaulted last summer - the police response from start to finish has been appalling and the young police officer who was investigating seemed out of his depth. In December, the CPS agreed that there was sufficient evidence to prosecute; however, I have had an email from the police officer saying that he had missed the deadline for the postal requisition (6 months for summative offences). What, if anything, can I do? I would like the man who assaulted me to have some sort of consequences for his actions.

I'm guessing this was common assault which can only be heard by magistrates. If that is the case, it is too late now to get your attacker convicted on this charge. You could make a personal injury claim against him but, if he was only going to be prosecuted for common assault, that is unlikely to be worth it. I'm afraid you are going to have to let this go, although I think you should make a formal complaint to the police.
