Loss of face

"Loss of face"

How should this be said in a letter to a tradesman when asking for a refund due to poor workmanship.

Citizens advice has said to include it in the letter as we have lost confidence in his skill to complete the job. I just don't know how to phrase it.

Thank you.

Is there a typo here and you meant "loss of faith", otherwise it makes no sense to me.

Made no sense to me either, until I read your post @VeniVidiWeeWee.

OP, just say "Due to the poor workmanship that has been demonstrated to date, we have lost faith in your ability to complete the work to a satisfactory standard."

ILoveMyCaravan · 19/03/2021 01:08

I don't think it's a typo, I was told it's a legal term but I'm struggling how to use it. I agree 'faith' sounds better than 'face', I was hoping someone with legal knowledge would know x

was this advice over the phone, in which case you misheard it.
the phrase is loss of faith, or you could say loss of confidence, which i would prefer.

No, loss of face is not a legal term. You have lost confidence in his ability to do the job. That is a loss of faith.

ILoveMyCaravan · 19/03/2021 11:09

Thanks everyone. I'll go with the I've lost confidence/faith in the work.

Glad I checked, it just didn't seem right whichever way I tried to word it x
