Horrendously stressful, applied for a non-mol and occupation order and first hearing was today. Judge seemed very annoyed that I didn’t have legal representation for myself, quizzed me as to why I’d applied for both when the non-mol would have covered all I need. I followed guidance from DV charity so was under impression I needed both for my protection at home as he’s on joint private tenancy.
Hearing was hard - remained composed throughout as he lied and cried over two and half years of abuse he’s inflicted on me, as if he’s the victim.
My question is about serving papers. I paid £130 for an extremely efficient and brilliant service from a local process server yesterday to serve actual application and notice of proceedings (court forgot paperwork, forgot link to online hearing etc so process servers were brilliant in comparison).
The judge put an interim non-mol order in place until next hearing and I’ll need to serve this order to him in next few days so another £130. I know in the grand scheme of things, it’s nothing, it’s just that this man has caused so much heartache and pain, and I know I’m facing huge legal costs (he contested despite admitting he was looking for a new flat and didn’t want anything to do with me again) ??? Is there any way that I can serve the interim order to him that saves me the slightest bit of money at this stage?
