Does anyone know why an inquest into a death would be cancelled?

My dad passed December the 1st. Ive literally heard once from the coroner in December to say they were running some more tests. Called mid January twice to try and get an update and no one got back to me. I then seen online there was going to be an inquest held at the end of march but when ive gone to look again his name has dissapeared. Does anyone know any reason for this?

Are you the next of kin?

Im not no. His sister was but she wont speak with me. Last time I spoke with the coroner she said she would also put me down as a point of contact to be notified.

I am sorry about your father.

They can be quick to rush to inquest

It could be that having done further tests, they have decided there is no need for one. If the coroner spoke with you then hopefully she can tell you the reason? As his daughter, I thought you would be considered kin as well?

There can be many reasons, capacity (most courts are overwhelmed with huge backlogs) or an interested person may be providing further disclosure, additional witness statements needed, expert report required etc. It could even be as said above that further evidence confirmed inquest not required. You need to speak to the Coroner's officer, frustrating as it can be to get hold of them.
