My head hurts...

I'll try to make this as clear as possible, but it's all tangled up together, it's making my head ache, and therefore apologies in advance if I waffle

I fled DV with my DC in 2019. I never divorced him, but I'd like to start the ball rolling.

My issue is, he doesn't know which area I'm in- whether I'm North, South etc, and I've also changed my name by deed poll.

Where do I start? I'm so stupid I don't even know where to get a copy of my marriage certificate from! I don't want him to know where we are, or my new name.

Is it possible?

You can get a copy of your marriage certificate online (just go directly to the .gov website). Get everything to go through a solicitor but it will narrow down for your ex where you are living. I would also explain to your solicitor what has happened in the past

You don’t need to use a local solicitor. Pick one in a different area completely and make sure they know you don’t want your ex to have any idea of your location.

Get your marriage certificate from gov.uk

Will he have to know my new name?

I’m not sure honestly - I would think legal forms would have to be filed with your new name, but there may be a procedure to protect people by using a code name of some kind. You could try speaking to women’s aid for advice?
