Identity Fraud

I am being perused for charges from a defaulted account registered to an address I haven't lived at for years. Basically someone registered for a phone line using my name at an old address of mine. They paid using their own money initially but then stopped paying and I'm being perused for the arrears. The company are not accepting that I am not responsible. What can I do?

Ask them for evidence the charges are yours?

There isn't much you can do at this stage. When did you find out about the fraud?

Was it registered at the address after you left? If so can you prove when you left?

I found out in November, it was being investigated by a collector but now they've put it back to the original company

Do they have a complaints process you can go through?
