Euro Car Parks PCN

I have a final notification for a PCN. I was delayed at an appointment and overstayed by around an hour. I appealed as I feel that £100 is excessive but this was rejected. There is very mixed advice online about paying PCNs so I would like advice on whether I should pay up or ignore it? What's the worst that can happen? Thank you.

The worst is they take you to court, you are issued with a CCJ and your credit is shot to shit for a long while. Plus extra charges.

You over stayed. That's not their fault. I assume there were signs in the car park stating the penalty

In the 'old days' they weren't enforced but now they will enforce it and take you to court for it.

As per previous post the worst is they take you to court for it.
You'll only get a CCJ if you fail to pay up as per the judgment.

My advice to save yourself lots of aggro because some of these companies are ruthless is to pay it and forget it
Alternatively take a look at Pepipoo online or there's a Facebook page called Fight your private parking invoice or something along those lines. You'll get advice and previous experience of people who've fought them and if they won or not.

I appreciate it’s my fault for overstaying but £100 for overstaying by an hour is taking the piss. These companies are scum in my opinion, no way are the fines representative of the loss of income they incur.

No but they are clear about their charges for overstaying before you use their services.

@wishywashywoowoo70 thanks I’ll take a look.

In Parking Eye v Beavis, the Supreme Court decided that Parking Eye could charge Mr Beavis £85 for staying too long in a free car park. You may not like it but, provided the signage was adequate, they are allowed to charge you for overstaying.

Thanks everyone who replied. I’ve begrudgingly paid the parasites, not worth the worry and hassle 😡

@Oooohbehave Right decision. It's painful I know (I've been there!) but not paying is a gamble. Sometimes they'll come after you, sometimes they won't, but you just don't know.
