Divorcing an ex who is abroad

Hi, has anyone any experience/knowledge of divorcing someone who is abroad? It was only a very short marriage, no children, weren't living together etc, no assets. He has said he will give me the divorce but because he is working illegally in Germany he won't give me an address in case it causes him problems and doesn't have an email address. He now isn't reading my facebook messages which was the only form of contact we had.

I know anyone related to him on facebook wont tell me anything, they might not even have an address for him anyway.

Where does this leave me?

Use his last known address. As long as he acknowledges service to the court you’ll be ok. You can ask the court to pass you the papers for service and then email them to him. If he cooperates then you’re fine.

My ex lives abroad and while he is co-operative there is no postal option for him so I use my address and I've luckily been able to hand deliver documents and get signatures when we meet 2/3 times a year. No questions from court. Have been granted nisi (have put absolute on hold as I can't get my head around arranging the financial bit while we can't exchange documents. Could he use a postal box? Anyway I guess what I'm saying is it's ok for you to pass on the docs if he doesn't want an address going official

@mumulala Thank you. Yes, when we were together I would have to send letters to a post office for him to collect. I believe they phoned him to say they had something for him. I don't have a number for him so not sure this would work but I guess I have to try to show I've done all that I can.
