DHL lost our parcel what to do?

I ordered a new ipad from John Lewis last week. John Lewis emailed to say it was dispatched, DHL kept texting to say they were going to deliver- for a few days in a row! Now they say they can’t find it. It cost £750 what the heck happens now? What are my rights? Will JL give me a refund or resend another iPad? Or will they say it’s DHL’s responsibility?

God I hope so, it’s really worrying.

Your contract is with John Lewis, take it up with JL and they will sort it out.

UPS lost my parcel before Christmas. I contacted the vendor and they got a replacement sent to me.

It's not your problem if DPS lost your parcel, it's John Lewis's. Your contract is with John Lewis not DPS.

Ok this is what I was hoping people would say. I’m emailing JL and forwarding them the message from DHL. Fingers crossed!

We had this with an iPad from JohnLewis and DHL about 12 months ago. A new one was dispatched at no charge. Oddly we kept getting texts from DHL with new delivery dates for some weeks after. Apparently it happens frequently.

@Memom that’s a weird coincidence. I don’t want to sound awful but makes you wonder if there is theft going on?

I'm absolutely sure there is theft going on. Quite a few PS5s were 'lost' in deliveries before Christmas.

There are fake emails from supposedly delivery companies. They somehow know that we are expecting a delivery and even sometimes what.

I knew they were fake when their last email said my parcel was due on 1/12/21, clearly using the American date style, which they definitely wouldn't do of it was genuine.

I wouldn't worry if I really didn't receive the parcel. The delivery people will have to prove they delivered - usually with a signature. John Lewis will have to resend a replacement. There's also the credit card company or PayPal etc to fall back on if you had paid through any of those.
