We've been married for many years, but the house which we live in is still only in my name from before we married. We want to put DH name on the deeds as tenants in common. The legal firm we asked to quote is saying £900. Does this sound about right please? The property is worth around £250,000 with no mortgage.

That sounds very high. I thought you just needed to inform the land registry.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge can help but this isn't a complicated thing to do.

That is very, high. It is simply a question of preparing and executing a TR1 form, and registering that at the Land Registry. The LR fee will be £60. Whatever you do don't think you can do it yourself. Family of a client of mine thought that when transferring land between family members. Years down the line they all have deficient title.

Ring around and get quotes.

Thank you. I do feel cautious that it is rather on the high side. I want to do it properly and will pay to do so, but don't want to pay a fee that isn't appropriate.
