How to confirm a notary is legit?

As above. Found an endless list of notaries on the notary society website www.thenotariessociety.org.uk. Do notaries have to be legit to be included on the actual website and the society?

Ive contacted a few and the pricing is very different. Some have posh offices in central London and charge £300 while another is charging £80 and comes to my door due to corona. But the website is not so great. How can I know they're actually legit and won't just steal my details?

I only need a power of attorney for a lawfirm (in spain) to act on my behalf to be notarised so its nothing super complicated Also very broke right now and £80 is already sounding like a lot for just my bloody signature. £300 is impossible for me atm. The lawfirm has been instructed through my insurance so im assuming they are legit and thankfully this way I dont have to fork out anything extra for lawyers as its covered on the insurance

All notaries listed on the Notaries Society website are legitimate.
