Any point in a death bed will?

Elderly MIL is in hospital with COVID and not expected to survive beyond a week. Very simple affairs- a few £K in a bank account, small life insurance policy to pay for the funeral. Lives in a council house. She has 2 children - DH and DSIL. She wants anything after funeral costs split 50/50. In reality, DH will give it all to DSIL as its immaterial to us but a lot of money to her.

DH looks after everything as DSIL lives elsewhere in UK. DMIL lives in Scotland. DH has access to the bank account online as he manages payments for her.

No will in place. Should we print off something for her to sign or us there no need?

Does she have capacity?

A quick google suggests that under Scottish intestacy law, that if there’s no spouse the estate would be divided equally between all the children (including any child who predeceased the parent)

Yes. She's lucid and understands what's going on. Its just her heart thats failing.

Will the lack of will slow us down considerably when sorting things out? We could do without a load of extra hassle beyond the necessary when the time comes.

I properly written will will speed things up when it comes to distribute the estate.
