Defects letter

I complained to the council about a dangerous wall in my neighbour’s garden. They told me that they are investigating and have issued a defects letter.

Does anyone know what a defect letter is likely to say or require my neighbour to do or is it the start of a lengthy process? Is it a wishy washy letter or something that obligates my neighbour to act within a specific timeframe?

I keep calling the council to get an explanation but no response.
