Can I work whilst on maternity leave?

Situation is... Plan to be off for the full year however, my husband owns a business and we plan for me to work there very part time after my SMP finishes (33 weeks).

Is this allowed?

Why don't you resign from your job at that point if you aren't going to go back

It depends on your contract with your employer. It may ban you from working for anyone else.
