Cost of a will?

Can anyone advise how much their will costs?

I have never had one done as I didn't have any assets (house was in negative equity). It now has a small amount of equity, and I have life insurance that will go to my children. I also took out a pension (nhs) for the first time last year. So now I finally have something to leave behind rather than debts.

I can't afford hundreds for a will, but feel that it is the responsible thing to do (I'm a single parent of 3 children). It will likely need changing in a couple of years. So is it worth doing now, or waiting?

Have you written the life insurance into trust so that it doesn’t need to wait for the probate to go through? If not that is worth considering and the provider should be able to give you e free form to do that. Re wills I think mine was around £250 but you can get a diy one in w h smiths I think? That would likely be much cheaper bend better than not having one at all

My parents paid 350 for mirror wills it was all done by phone and email
I highly reccomend a will writer on here mumblechum - Marlowe Wills I think Is the name Of her business

I charge £150 for a straightforward single will.

Obviously I’m biased but it’s always worth doing now as put simply, you just don’t know when you’re going to die.

Second Mumblechum, aka Marlow Wills, she’ll offer a good price for excellent service.

Recent will was £228, and well worth it.

You can easily get a simple will done on the internet relatively cheaply. You do need to print it off and get witnesses to sign to make it legal.
