Recovery Orders & Runaways

My niece is currently in Foster Care and is continuously running away from her placement.
Each time she goes missing she generally returns to her mothers house or friends.
When this happens the police attend family members homes and demand to search the premises.

This is extremely intrusive and upsetting and involves looking in loft space, cupboards and lifting up mattresses! From what I can tell, they do not have a warrant but are likely to have a recovery order although none of my family have seen this order. They were told it can't be shown due to data protection as there are other peoples adresses on there.

What are our rights here? I am living on my nerves wondering when she will next run away and when they will be knocking my door which they have said can be at any time day or night.

I have nothing to hide, the child is not here and I am happy to tell them this, however I am now worried about going to work as I have teenage children at home who shouldn't have to deal with this when I am not there.

Any advice appreciated.

A recovery order gives the police powers to enter any premises specified in the order and search for the missing child using reasonable force if necessary. The order will name the child and anyone who has parental responsibility due to a care order or an emergency protection order. It will therefore have details of the foster parents and any other premises the police wish to search.
