Dispute with commercial waste collections

Sorry, probably a boring one for you but could do with some advise.
I'm in a 24 month contract with a commercial waste removal service.
I've been counting down the months to leave them due to missed waste collections, hidden charges like extra weight, shocking customer service.
Anyway, my contract is due to end on the 4th December this year.
I emailed them to give 2 months notice. I've had a reply to say I can only cancel my renewal between 3-6 months before the contract is up for renewal, therefor I'm automatically signed up for another 24 months!!!
I've checked my contract and sure enough it says exactly that in the small print.

This is ridiculous, I'm effectively signed into a 24 month contract that hasn't even started yet.
There was no renewal letter/email, nothing.

Is there anyway of me getting out of this?

Without seeing the contract it is impossible to advise.
