Hi

My husband and I are separating. He earns 48k, I have increased my hours as much as I can and earn 28k. We have twin 11 year olds. Our house is worth £350k and we gave a mortgage of £86k. He has a pension with. Transfer value of £40k. I want to keep the house but he is saying I can’t afford it as it will be a 50:50 split. He can borrow more than me so if he makes me sell he can buy a much nicer house than I could. I have offered him £100k plus the car. (5k) and for yo to stay in the house. Do you think it’s reasonable? 🤷‍♀️

Have you got legal advice? It will cost a bit but likely be worth it.
50/50 split does not sound right, but nor should he necessarily get a lot less just because he can borrow more. What is your custody plan? Can you even borrow £186k on your salary? (Assuming you'd need to pay him out £100k, plus take over the remaining £86k).

You really need to take proper legal advice. See a solicitor.
