Grounds for appeal

I had a final hearing in August for a child arrangements order which was heard by magistrates. It went pretty much in my favour. Now ex is preparing grounds for appeal. Has anyone been through this? How does it work? I had a feeling this would happen. He is adamant he will get what he wants

He will first need to apply for leave to appeal. He will only get that if the court thinks he has an arguable case. Getting leave to appeal does not mean he will win, just that he has a chance of winning. To win he would have to show that the magistrates got the law wrong, or that there were procedural errors, or that the decision was clearly wrong or unfair.
