Evening all, has anybody used a forensic accountant during their divorce? If yes what was their charge out rate was it per hour or fixed fee based on a predefined scope?
What did they produce for you/your solicitor?
TIA

They’ll always quote you a fixed fee.

What do they produce? You tell them what you want them to look at, ask them questions, and they provide answers. You’d want it to be a joint instruction so make an application under part 27 of the FPR.

Sorry - part 25

AustinRd · 29/08/2020 18:55

Thanks @Collaborate so you know how much roughly it costs, even if it’s a sliding scale? Thanks

I'd say roughly a few thousand, possibly a bit more if there's more complications found

Between £4-6k on average.

Friend of mine used one, very expensive (£50k+) but her high earner/asset rich ex had moved a lot of money abroad and 'hidden' property in the run up to asking for a divorce. She gained far more in the end by what they uncovered.
You will need to work out whether it's worth it.

Oh my it’s like having a 2nd lawyer on the case! Thanks for all your insight

Mine cost me around £4000. The actual fee was I think £7000 in total we each had to pay 50% of the main fee (£5k) so £2500 and the I asked for some additional information so had to pay for that myself and it was a further £1500.
