Can you anyone direct me to a website where I can get basic information on how this type of case is sentenced eg. Tried in magistrate or crown, impact of previous conviction.

Whether previous incident not yet sentenced when next incident occurred is counted etc

Just trying to understand the system

You can find sentencing guidelines here.

Offences either go to the mags, the Crown Ct or are triable either way. If you say what the charge is someone can probably tell you what category it falls into.

Oh Thanks that's exactly the sort of information I need. Although it's Northern Ireland law so slightly different.

In the example they talk about 3 burglaries in a year means a minimum 3 year custodial sentence. How would Find out if there is similar in Northern Ireland for assault.

Also can't find anything definitive on when it could or would be suspended?
