Sorry if this isn't in the right area. I've tried searching the site in hope that there is someone else out there who may have experience in this horrible time for me.
I have been stalked for the last three years, since May 2017. in that time we have had many back and fores to the police station, giving statements and a mass of evidence.
in the three years my stalker has been to prison for two short sentences, been given a restraining order in which he has breached twice.
I have been advised that in the sentencing taking place today for breach of restraining order, harassment, stalking, malicious communication and intent to harm case that he is likely to be given an intrim hospital order?
can anyone please explain how after three years they have now decided this and what it means for my restraining order?

any other tips and advise welcomed.

An interim hospital order is used when two doctors have advised the court that your stalker has a mental health problem. It is not a final sentence. It means he will be held in prison for up to 12 weeks initially where he will undergo treatment and be assessed to help the court decide what sentence he should receive. The order can be renewed but cannot remain in force for more than 12 months in total.

The doctors treating him will advise the court what should happen next. They will assess him to see whether he should go to prison or be put on a section 37. A section 37 is a sentence which means he will be sent to hospital rather than prison. Unlike a prison sentence it does not have a fixed end date.
