Acquiring German naturalisation

I was born in 1970 in the UK to a German mother. I've never lived in Germany.

However, I am looking into the passivity of getting a German passport according to the German laws of naturalisation.

I found

this information.

And the most pertinent bit being the screenshot section attached.

Does this mean I could apply for a German passport? And my children?

DH was born to a German father and English mother but actually in Germany and was a German citizen until his mother changed this when he was 9.
Last year he did manage to get dual British/German citizenship, we found The Embassy very helpful as he was at first told no but then was told about a potential loophole he could use. It involved a lot of paperwork, that fortunately his Mum still had (father deceased). Once DH got his dual nationality we could apply for the children.
One thing though, if you do want Dual this might not be possible anymore as Germany only allows Dual with another EU nation I think.

Hmmm. I haven't lived in Germany at all. So I think it's not possible.

Contact the embassy, my dc have never lived there and they have dual nationality
I love Germany but it’s not perfect you know

WashedUpDriedOut · 08/06/2020 16:53

I'm sure it's not perfect. I don't imagine any country is. But I'd still like to live there.

I will contact the embassy.

I was born in Germany in 1971 to unmarried parents. One was British, the other was Irish.

I returned to the UK when I was 6 mths old.

When I was 18 I was declined a British passport. I was also declined German Nationality.

I was advised by the embassy that you have to be of 'German blood' to be a German National.

I had to be Naturalised as a British Citizen.

That would imply that you could pursue German Citizenship.
