Dormant company

Why would a trading company be listed as a dormant company?
The firm in question is listed on Companies House as dormant so no trading financial info, and its holding company is the same.
The firm is very much trading though!

Could they have just brought/changed their name? Is their trading name the same as their registered name?

Also, the accounts are historic. They may have started trading since the last published accounts.

Our group would look a bit like that. We have a company called Carlotta Limited that’s dormant then another company called Old Name Limited that trades as Carlotta News.

Are you sure the trading entity is the one you think?
