My friends ex has hacked into her social media pages and shared information about my child with his dad (who he doesn’t see) the messages have personal information about my child such as where he’s living, days were at places he could turn up to, holidays we have planned and even talking about mediation/legal matters, where on earth do I stand with this? Do I contact the police to say my child’s information is being shared without consent?

Have you any sort of injunction against your ex knowing where you live?

LochJessMonster · 11/04/2020 14:44

I imagine if it’s information that you have freely put on social media then the police will just tell you to stop putting it on there.

Anybody who has access to your social media pages could pass the info on.

@LochJessMonster I think it's private messages the OP is taking about....

No but have had his family turn up at previous addresses kicking off in the past hence not wanting him to know x

If he has hacked into her account that is an offence under the Computer Misuse Act. Your friend should report her ex to the police.

You may have a claim against him for misusing personal information but that is a civil matter, not something the police would deal with.
