Small Claims

A client has said they will take me to the small claims court for the refund of some money.
I believe this is just a threat and their argument holds no grounds.

I have replied that they should go ahead with litigation. However, should I receive stamped Court papers what cost would it be to me to refund them at this stage.

The amount in question is £500 and I do not have the time/strength/health to proceed with a court case.

I would just like to have some idea on the costs to me should it reach this stage, so I'm prepared. I can't seem to find any information online.
Thank you.

If it is exactly £500 the court fee is £35 if they file online and £50 if the file on paper. If it is more than £500 the figures are £60 and £70 respectively. They should add the court fee to their claim. There are no other costs.

Thank you, that is helpful. I'm assuming you mean,; if I receive the papers, then pay the client back, before it is taken any further by the court, then I would be paying £535 (it's exactly £500) assuming if she files online.
