Centreparcs!

We are due to go on holiday to Centreparcs in The Netherlands. New rules have come into place to reduce the spread of the virus over there, the one most relevant to this post is no gatherings of more than 100 people. This has meant that Centreparcs have bought in their own restrictions. Most of the restaurants are closed and most importantly to us we can only use the pool (arguably the main attraction) for only a single 1.5 hour slot for the entire week. This is something we would have used for longer than date DAILY let alone over the entire 7 days. We cannot cancel for a refund and if we want to rebook to another week it will cost around €300 as we are required to make up the difference in price. Also we would need to pay to rebook travel there (ferry), rearrange holiday with work and maybe take the kids out of school and they have limited availability in the school holidays now so may only have term time left by the time we decide to rebook. We paid for this on our credit card, do we have any recourse to claim a refund through it as the holiday is not as advertised anymore? We do have travel insurance but I don't think we can claim back through this. Just trying to explore every option. Many thanks for any advice.

Is your contract with centre parks UK? If so then you are protected and would think you can demand a refund as they are not providing what you booked.

I can say if the contract is with a Dutch based company.

The booking will be with the Dutch Centerparcs I would think.

I don't know then but sympathise as you might have well have just booked a hotel if all the facilities are shut. Poll for 1 1/2 hours is ridiculous.

I get why they re doing it but what they are doing is avoiding refunding people and forcing them to stay in a closed down facility virtually.

I wonder if there is a Dutch equivalent of CAB. Alternatively check with UK CAB and see if you are covered if you paid on credit card

You are protected. There has been a Court of Appeal ruling that Section 75 protection applies for anything you buy using your credit card regardless of whether the supplier is in the UK or abroad.

Thanks prh47bridge, that is what I am hoping. Will call them Monday and hope they agree.

We booked with Centreparcs NL. The terms and conditions say something like, you have paid for use of your lodge, the Aquamondo (excluding spa etc etc) and a few other things. It doesn't specifically say unlimited use but surely one 1.5 hour session in 7 days is unreasonable. Also found out since I posted the €80 refund is actually a voucher to use off another booking within 12 months! I know people have bigger things to worry about right now, but still annoying!
