Buying property at a distance

Fairly simple question, I hope.

To buy a house/flat in a different area to where I am living now, should I use a solicitor in that area or should I use my local solicitor who has done work for me before?

I won't be selling a property, just buying the new one.

I'd prefer to use my local solicitor but wondered if there are reasons I shouldn't do it that way.

Ps, it'll be a cash purchase so no mortgage provider involved.

I'd use the one local to you now. Much easier to sign forms etc rather than having them posted out, signed and notarised and sent back or having to travel to the other place when your ID needs checking/ signing needs to happen.

The main advantage to using one where you'll be living is they'll likely have worked with the other local solicitors before inc the one representing your vendor so may be able to move things along a bit easier if they stall

Use the less expensive one.

Unless it's a leasehold flat and one solicitor has less experience than the other.
