Preventing X access to DS inheritance

Hi, can anyone advise on whether it is possible to ensure that the inheritance my DS will receive when I die cannot then be passed to DSs Dad should DS die before his Dad?

No you can't prevent it as it is his inheritance. The only way is if the money was held in trust but it would need to be a decent amount I guess to make it worth while but then it wouldn't have been released to your son

Is there a reason you think this is likely to happen?

If your ds is an adult by the time he inherits then he would need to leave a will staying who he wants it to go to.

If he is married (or leaves it to a partner in a will) or has kids, they would inherit.

Yes you can you put it in trust for DS and his descendents. Of course trustess xan change the terms aa they see fit. This can also protect the money in case DS or his descendants need benefits

Thank you. It's a high 6 figure sum I'd be leaving DS, and it is already in trust until he is 25. So I think the only bit I need to add is that it would then go to any future DGC's? I'm seeing Solicitor on Monday so just needed an idea of options.

The reason for ensuring X doesn't inherit anything I leave to DS is because there are mental health and alcohol issues in play. He would literally pi$$ it up a wall...
