We set up LPAs for mum years ago when she was fit and well. They are registered and I hold the originals.
Her health has declined rapidly and while she still has mental capacity she has neither the physical nor emotional capacity to deal with money.
Where to start?

Start by asking her if she's happy for you to deal with her finances, if she is then make an appointment with the bank. They will photocopy the document and add it to her notes. You can the check her bills etc.

Do not post them to anyone incase they get lost, get yourself a certified copy as a back up.

What else do you need to know? I'd suggest setting up a spreadsheet of all her out going's do you know exactly what she has or hadn't got.

When you call companies explain you have LPA they will want u to scan proof over.

Thanks bunny , the certified copy is a brilliant idea my sister nearly lost it.
I do know what she's got as I've helped her manage for years. She was on top of it and just needed help with technology.
Thankfully her affairs are fairly simple, though we will soon have to sell the house to pay care home fees. That will be the most difficult task.
