Child Protection Conference

I have been called to an ICPC and I have lots of questions which I am having to turn to Google for as the Social Workers are not really being that helpful.

I would really appreciate speaking to both Professionals and Parents who have been through it.

Thank-you.

I've been through this. Can you give more details about why you're having an ICPC in the first place, OP?

PanickedandFrightened · 25/02/2020 17:37

I wrote a big backstory but lost it trying to multi-task with the Children.

I attend as a professional if that would help.

Although social workers are there to support the whole family, their primary responsibility is to the child. Even so, someone should have explained what a child protection conference is. Basically it is a meeting to decide what level of protection a child needs but I'm sure someone will be able to give more info on here or call social services again to explain.

You definitely should've been given an information leaflet when you received the written invitation, outlining what happens at the conference.

An ICPC doesn't automatically mean worst case scenario. Yes, it's incredibly scary to go through and a very serious situation, but it's important to stay calm and above all, cooperate with the professionals.

Seriously, I have now written it twice ...

I am pretty familiar with the processes although some specific questions may vary between local authorities

wishingforapositiveyear · 25/02/2020 22:23

Have you had a conference report from social services outlining why ?

Lalabinks · 25/02/2020 22:26

Hi OP, I’m a child protection SW. If you give a little more context or have any specific questions I might be able to help

PanickedandFrightened · 26/02/2020 12:22

Dear All, I am at work so can't re-type the info again till later but I really appreciate you bothering to respond so far.

I'm a retired social worker who used to work in child protection. There seem to be a few of us here who hopefully can answer your questions.

Clangus00 · 26/02/2020 12:40

I’ve also attended many as a professional. Happy to help along with the others later.
