Name change without Deed Poll

Hi all. DD (4 months) is currently registered under her dads surname and I'm wondering if there would be a way I could double barrel it with my own? Without going into too much detail, there were many issues at the time of registering her birth and I felt I was unable to double barrel her name as id wanted all along but now I'm free of the dick head I'd like to know if it's possible. I'm aware of the Deed Poll service but wanted to see if I could do it by amending her birth cert.

If her dad is on the birth certificate you'd need his permission, but yes it's possible

You cannot change the name on the birth certificate. You can only change the surname on the birth certificate if there is a spelling mistake or you are re-registering the birth to include the biological father.

If the father does not consent to the change of name you will need to get a court order. Note that it is difficult to persuade the courts to make an order allowing you to change your child's name.

If the father agrees you can change your child's name by deed poll or by statutory declaration.
