Help Family Law solicitors? Christmas contact

Hello,

I'm new to mumsnet and I have a question for any family law solicitors that could possibly help?

There is a child arrangement order in place for my son. I was just wondering what happens if Christmas day falls on a weekend for instance one year and it would usually be his dads full weekend with him but that it would also be my turn to have Christmas with him. Does this mean that normal contact arrangements get cancelled out so to speak?

I was messing around working out dates on calendar earlier just to see how things fall for certain things etc and I ended up skipping right up to Christmas next year lol. Christmas day is a Friday next year as it is a leap year and normally my sons dad picks him up at 5pm on a Friday and he would have him until 6pm Sunday, but the way our Christmas arrangements are for next year is I have him overnight Christmas eve and his dad would collect 2pm Christmas day and would return 2pm boxing day (this is stated in court order) but as I said it would normally be my sons dads full weekend with him that week so does that mean he still has to return him at 2pm boxing day which is a Saturday or would he keep him the full weekend as normal?

I really hope this makes sense lol. I just thought I Could vaguely remember my solicitor last year when we finished court that normal contact arrangements get cancelled out as Christmas is classed as a special occasion and is seperate to usual arrangements. Is this correct? I know it's another year away but I'm just curious really as I had never really thought about it and what would happen if it falls on normal contact times.

Thanks in advance Smile

Usually Christmas arrangements override regular contact. I always find our regular schedule goes out the window over Christmas but we're both quite flexible.

In your situation next year I'd probably suggest dad picks him up at 2pm Christmas Day & keeps him for the rest of the weekend and carry on as normal from there.

@NatashaAlianovaRomanova thank you. Yes I can imagine it gets tricky sorting it out at these times. I kind of did think Christmas would override normal contact but wasn't 100% sure. That's good to know thank you. Suppose we'll just have to work it all out next year lol.
