Mutual exchange

Hi everyone. So I'm at the end of my mutual exchange. References etc have all gone through fine. I've had to do an expenditure form but I have a ccj against me for an old water bill, will this effect my mutual exchange? Thanks.

Hi OP, we're moving this thread over to our Legal Matters topic and giving it a bump.

No one will have a clue what you mean by this. Exchange of what?

SoupDragon · 28/10/2019 15:33

I assume it's an exchange of council housing.

RachelFreeman · 29/10/2019 17:57

Yes mutual exchange of a council property.

If it is flagged up by the new landlord you should be honest and up front and explain how it happened and that you have been keeping up with payments since then providing you have. And yes it could affect the exchange as discretion will be with the new landlord as to whether they accept you as a tenant or not. If you have not discharged the debt, now might be a good time to start payments. There is help available for thames water customers in the form of a charitable trust which is able to discharge water debt for people in financial difficulty due to ill health, separation, dv or other social deprivation/welfare reasons.
