Litter fine going to court

Has anyone ever been charged for litter dropping? My friend was given a fixed penalty notice of £150 which they haven't paid. They've now had a letter saying they need to enter a plea and the magistrates will decide the sentence and fine - what kind of sentence and fine are they looking at? We've googled and it just says anywhere up to £2500 but are the fines usually that much?

(not excusing their behaviour, its all their own fault, I just wondered what they can realistically expect from their guilty plea)

As well as the fine they might have to pay court costs including the other sides.

So it's quite possible it could end up being thousands?

It is unlikely to be thousands but it could be several hundred pounds.
