Any clinical negligence solicitors on here?

I’m a solicitor of a different type but interested in learning a bit about clinical negligence, standards of care and medical ethics. Is there a good text book that you would recommend I start with?

Many thanks

I do a bit of it. Don't have any textbook suggestions but might be able to answer some questions! I am based in Scotland though, so if you're in England I don't know how relevant it will be.

Thanks Vasya. I just want to read in a bit I suppose, not yet sure what my questions are! I’m interested in the idea of informed consent in general, including in relation to minors but not sure where my thoughts will take me. Unfortunately PracticalLaw (my usual first port of call for dabbling) does not cover this area.

I think Powers is meant to be the leading textbook in the area, although I think the most recent version is a few years old now. Depending on how in-depth you want to go (and how much you want to spend), how about the LPC (or whatever it’s called these days)! module textbook?

Ah, makes sense! Hopefully some posters with more insight than me will be along to assist!

Thanks Hdready. I don’t know why LPC textbooks hadn’t occurred to me (hopefully because my LPC was all M&A / commercial and not because it was so incredibly long ago!!).
Will look up Powers too.

This is the leading book Principles of Medical Law (Laing,McHale, Kennedy, Grubb (2017 ed)) but like all legal text books its very expensive (£225). The ebook version is marginally cheaper

www.wildy.com/isbn/9780198732518/principles-of-medical-law-4th-ed-hardback-oxford-university-press

If you search on Wildy's (a specialist legal book seller) where that link is from for medical law you will find cheaper simpler books.
