Change of name after marriage

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place...just wondered if anybody could give me any clarity or direct me on who to phone about this. So I got married last month, was intending on changing my surname, the registrar had asked if I was and I said yes...not sure if this matters or not? But now I'm not so sure (just cba with the hassle tbh!) and hubby doesn't mind if I keep my own surname. So basically my question is this....am I able to keep my own name even though I told registrar I would be taking hubby's name? And will I be Mrs My-Own-Surname or Miss....and do I need to change anything like bank or driving license if it's now Mrs....sorry if it's a really silly question! TIA xxx

Of course you can keep your own name. It doesn't change automatically so you have to actively change everything if that's what you want to do

Yes. Just don’t bother to change anything and it’s fine

Thank you 😊

You can use both if you want to (so long as you aren’t doing it to commit fraud). I’m not sure why the registrar asked you. I don’t recall being asked at any point.

Keeping your name is the default position. You don’t need to do anything. You have to actively seek to change it otherwise
