I am hoping somebody can help.

Mia Michaels Live was weekend dance workshop event planned for London for 2 days in December. I bought tickets for my daughter to attend and a spectator ticket for myself, at cost of £213.
I then receive an email to say event has been rescheduled to June. We are advised that we can receive refunds or reschedule. New date clashes with our planned family holiday so I ask for refund.
I sent many follow up emails and heard nothing back.
I then contact event company just prior to rescheduled event. They put me in contact with somebody who apologized, said they lost all details of people registered once they cancelled event. Please send bank account...... And no further response since.

I live in Ireland. The Event was planned for London. Mia Michaels is American.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to persue this?
We also lost cost of 2 flights. Thankfully hotel could be cancelled.
And guess what, she also cancelled the rescheduled event!!

How did you pay? Can’t you just do a chargeback?

CherieBabySpliffUp · 13/07/2019 22:49

If you paid by credit card you can make a claim through the card company if the cost was over £100 I think

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 13/07/2019 23:07

Ah!! Never thought of that. I paid online, so either Debit or Credit card. I don’t think it was PayPal, as not coming up in my email search.
I’ll check my bank accounts and find how I paid it. Brilliant, thanks so much.

The chargeback advice only applies to UK consumers AFAIK. You’ll need to find out whether there is a similar consumer protection law in Ireland.

RebootYourEngine · 14/07/2019 05:09

I think I would be threatening the company who sold you the tickets with trading standards and court. They have basically stolen your money.

GrabbyGertie · 14/07/2019 22:03

The website looks like it’s been deactivated. 😕

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 14/07/2019 23:18

I am outside window of getting credit card transaction reversed. It needs to be done within 120 days. Bummer.

I don't know but I think you might still be ok. Have a look at 'Hassans' claim
On the Barclaycard website

GrabbyGertie · 14/07/2019 23:25

The 120 days can't be extended. You haven't received what you paid for....

GrabbyGertie · 14/07/2019 23:26

Ahhh typo

*CAN be extended NOT can't be extended

GrabbyGertie · 14/07/2019 23:30

What type of credit card do you have? Is it your account?

Collaborate · 15/07/2019 07:18

@GrabbyGertie Your link does not apply to OP, who lives in Ireland. What type of credit card she has is irrelevant unless you can advise her on how Irish law applies.

Ahh. Sorry I missed that.

I’m not ‘qualified’ to advise on Irish law but I can google and I still wonder if the OP can make a claim outside the 120 days window. THIS WEBSITE MoneyGuideIreland suggests that “In the case of goods or services not being delivered, a chargeback can be raised up to 120 days from the agreed date of delivery“. The credit card type is relevant as the chargeback process in Ireland is something that is run by the credit card companies rather than being a legal requirement.

I’d say it was still worth a bit more research by the OP.
This site might be useful ChargeBack Com - MasterCard chargeback limits

GrabbyGertie if is worth a phone call to my credit card company for sure.
I have backup emails to show I have being chasing this, so fingers crossed they may support me.

Fingers crossed 🤞🏻🤞🏻

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 19/07/2019 11:18

Bank sent me a form to fill in and advised to send copy of my follow up emails along with the order and promise of refund. No mention of the 120 days, but might hit that problem once the fraud team review.
Fingers crossed 🤞
