NC for safety! Long time reader, occasional poster.

Have discovered my abusive ex has a nice hefty life insurance policy out on me. Funnily enough I'm not happy having someone who has abused me for years (including violence and police involvement) standing to benefit from my death.
Insurance cannot cancel policy just on my say so so they are going to write to ex and say I want it cancelled.
The question is what can I do if the ex says no? Is there anything I can do - I don't have access to the bank account the premiums are paid out off so can't just cancel the direct debit.

I'm surprised they're willing to do that. It should be none of your business, legally. I can understand that it makes you anxious, but in law there's nothing you can do.

Thanks Collaborate I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

I'm shocked. Really shocked but I see the sense in what you said.
