Long time lurker but first time poster here and am hoping somebody can help.
18 months ago my husband was arrested and charged with a pretty serious crime which resulted in him spending a few months on remand in prison and then a suspended sentence. While he was in prison I sold our house and bought a property on my own. He moved in with his Dad when he was released. We saw each other occasionally and kept in contact every few weeks or so via text. I recently started the divorce process (we don’t have any children or joint assets so should be straightforward). I have found out this weekend that he has been arrested again and is on remand (he is still under his suspended sentence if this holds any relevance). His family have not told me about his arrest as he has asked them not to.
Can anybody tell me if I have any legal right to know why he was arrested and what he is to be charged with, and if so how I go about finding this out? I have no desire to tell anybody about this arrest but I just feel like I need to know for myself what he has done. Also, I had applied to have the divorce papers served to his dad’s home but if he stays in prison I will need to change this so feel like I have a right to know if he is in prison, not least to sort out our divorce. Any advice would be appreciated -thank you’ve !
