Preliminary Hearing - employment tribunal

Name changed just in case!

I am currently in the process of taking legal action against a former employer. The preliminary hearing was 5 days ago and I hadn't heard anything (attendance wasn't required by myself).

I contacted my Solicitor today for an update and was told they were "putting together a detailed update for me" which would be with me "soon" and wouldn't be questioned further on outcome/reassured/etc

I'm really struggling with anxiety and sleep deprivity due to this case and obviously this has got my mind working overtime!

Could anyone in the business advise me why they couldn't give me any information over the phone and why it is all taking so long (I appreciate they're busy and they have been so good so I'm trying not to bug them too much!) - just need some reassurance really

Sorry it's vague x

If it's only 5 days, I really would try to relax. You won't have heard from the Court yet, I don't know about tribunals but the County Courts are about a month behind, so you'll probably hear from them in June.

The Solicitor probably won't have got back to the office until the next day and they've had the weekend to so you need to give them a bit of a chance unless you think they didn't attend?

@BunnyRuddington Thankyou you're right, I know I'm being pushy but I just want it over!

I'm sure they would have attended - that's good to know it sounds about right and not abnormal.

I'll chill out for a few days 😂 x

You do need to be aware that Employment Tribunal cases can take three or more years, unless the matter is very straightforward.
