Security cameras

Hi, i recently had a domestic incident with an ex fwb who is my neighbour. I know, I know. The police have spoken to him and warned him about his behaviour and told me to report anything further.
Since then he has installed security cameras with microphones. According to the info I've found online about these cameras they can pick up sound from 30ft away. This means that he will be able to hear and record anything I say near an open window when inside the house, or when outside in my garden. We spend a lot of time outside and now feel intimidated.
The police have said he's doing nothing wrong but I feel intimidated and spied upon and that my privacy has been invaded.
I've been told that this falls under data protection and human rights and is not permitted but the police disagree.
The cameras point over his drive and front door and his neighbours lawn and drive but due to the range they take in half my garden.

I'm hoping someone legal can give me a knowledgable answer please.

Check the ICO website as they deal with this.

Thank you. I've had a look at their website and it seems they will be able to advise better than the police. I'll phone them on Monday when they open again.
