Question on child in need plan

Hi does anyone have experience of there child being on a child in need plan due to parental mental health ?can you share your story with me ,and how long was they on the plan

No but I am a professional who works with children on child in need plans. All I would say is take the advice from the professionals involved. Accept and engage with any support or courses they offer you, engage fully with the social worker and other professionals and be completely open and honest with regards to everything , especially your mental health.

As long as you are demonstrating you are prioritising your children's needs and accepting support, professionals will see this. They will want to see this sustained over a period of time, and that could be three months to a year or more.

I am complying and will continue. It all started because I had intrusive thoughts after the birth. I have been waiting for 5 months for new sw from long term team . I am worried they will try to take him away .does the new sw go by the previous ones cin plan?is it likely the new one will come in and add things to the plan Or try applying to court?

Thanks for your reply.I am worried in case the new sw will try adding parenting course or something ?even though there's no issues with my parenting. In my assessment he wrote for us to have further assessment and monitoring, which I can't work out what he means by further assessment. ... I am also worrying that the new sw could view things differently and think it's more serious then cin...do you think that's possible or she has to go by what the first one has said ?at the very beginning it was section 47 buy now it's cin ...

Also what do you mean by they used the original plan as a starting point?what else did they have to add?

To put this into context OP there are children with disabilities and health needs who are on CIN plans for years and years (sometimes through to the age of 18) as a means of support - not linked to child protection or parenting in any way.

In your scenario unless something has deteriorated, or there’s been a clear incident or something you should have nothing to worry about. Just keep engaging and putting baby first, good luck!

My DS was on a CIN plan due to court proceedings with XH. I found it really helpful in accessing additional support for DS and was greatful for all they offered.

Thanks for the reply. Did the sw put you on the parenting course as part of the Plan? Did they add anything to your plan that you didnt feel was necessary? Do you think I have anything to worry about?

Also what do you mean by she took action on certain things..like what?

Thanks for your reply.and yes it just worries me so much. I already have diagnosis of anxiety and all this isn't helping. My partner has mental health issues but is on medication and stable.I'm just worried they will think we are unfit parents due to the mental health problems and try to take him away .
