Incorrect spelling of name on marriage certificate

Was my marriage legal??😀

All academic as i am now divorced, but i am curious ... and also amazed i have only just noticed😂

Yes it’s legal. The certificate is a record of the marriage. Unless you’re disputing your identity a spelling mistake doesn’t make it void. It’s exactly that, a spelling error. They do ask you several times to check all the spellings.

Pretty sure it if there is a mistake it isn't legal. I only know this because I remember playing a game of would I lie to you with my family a couple of summers ago and my dads story was how his and mum's marriage wasn't technically legal as he got her date of birth wrong and they needed to go back to the registry office to change it. The detail was only noted by the bank when they went to change details 😂

Aimily's father was wrong. You were legally married. You could have had the marriage certificate correctedn for a fee (currently £90).
