Are bank holidays classed as school holidays?

Asking for a friend.

He has a court order that says he has the children in school holidays on Mondays and Fridays. With the Easter weekend coming up neither party are sure if this is to include these banl holidays as well. Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated

Have a look at the school calendar. Some are, some aren't.

School holidays vary slightly depending on school/local authorities but where I am, all the school holidays are tagged to one of the bank holidays (inc Easter/Xmas/half term), so on that basis, I would say yes, but it depends on if that holds true for the school these children are at. Some of the have their Easter holidays early and are actually back for 3/4 days before being closed for Good Friday etc. So in themat case you could probably argue either way.
If the parents have an amicable relationship, they could agree to split the days and one have Friday and the other the Monday?

Most do fall in a school holiday, May day dosent and its just a 3 day weekend.

Not all bank holidays are in school holidays. My school has just had 2 weeks off and we're going back on Monday for 2 x 4 day weeks.

I would say if the child is off school it counts as a school holiday.

Yes, Bank holidays are part of the school holiday total. Children have to be in school for 190 days. The remainder are either Saturday, Sunday or holidays.

I’d say that a bank holiday is not part of a school holiday. Schools would be off anyway for bank holidays, regardless of where they choose to put the rest of their holidays. Eg: May Day

Interestingly DS's school is open on the May Day Bank Holiday, but I am sure that is not common

Easter Monday is not part of the school holidays for us.

Ours runs 8th to 21st.

The second may bank holiday is part of the school holidays

However school holidays do vary. They may also need to discuss inset days which are often added on to school holidays particularly the summer holidays.
