Not sure if this is the right place to post this. So not next door, but the house next to them, the guy who lives there smokes weed in his back garden. The main reason this is bothering me is that our daughter's bedroom is also at the back of the house. Now that it is getting warm we are opening her windows, but then finding her room is stinking of weed so having to keep shutting them. We're also not sure if he is dealing as a few days ago we were getting out of our car and a car pulled up outside his, someone got out and went to his door. We weren't exactly paying attention but we heard a quick 'thanks' then the guy got back in his car and drove off.
What I want to know is if anyone has had a similar situation and what has been your experience of reporting it to the police.
I don't really want to just ask him to stop smoking weed outside because if he doesn't listen and we then contact police about it he would know it was us.
It's becoming a nuisance to us and I don't look forward to summer if we can't even let some fresh air into our daughter's room.

I feel your pain. We are a top floor flat and had this from the guy downstairs. Mental health issues, night owl, indoors virtually 24/7, industrial skunk smoker. I had toddler and baby and the smell permeated throug hthe floor boards into their bedroom. Predictably he was defensive and while DH diplomatically raised it with him it didn’t change much. We decided not to go down the police route as he’d have known it was us and could have got nasty. We changed the carpets which helped a bit. Sadly really he died before his 50th birthday of smoking related issues. This isn’t much help I realise, but the law seems to offer nothing to those suffering from olfactory pollution in their own home.

I reported a local drug dealer gave the police details of his 'big delivery day every week... where he kept his stash his full name and address. They could not have cared a less....I tried to esculate it, but was called back with a very condescending police chap telling me how he was only small fish and they were trying to get the big fish. I just wanted the police to be present occasionally so my small children wouldnt have to ask him or his customers to move out of the way when we left our home (flats). We moved. Dealer is now in prison (not for drug charges). I must have made over a dozen calls to 111

I'm sure they would've interested in this guy then if he is just using it for personal use and giving some to a mate every now and again. Thanks for your replies. Think we may be looking to move then unfortunately.

Very unlikely they’d be interested, you could put a note through his door anonymously , if he’s ok hopefully he’ll realise and be more considerate.... if not then can always try police
