Medical Negligence

I have started a claim for medical neglience after the birth of my child and have suffered depression and anxiety, this has been self managed rather than going to the doctors as it's not something that is new to me and I have struggled on and off for years.. it has come back with full force since the birth of my daughter and the negligence I have received... will this affect my claim? Will my depression and anxiety even be taken in to account because I have not been to the doctors?

Thank you in advance for any advice

Difficult to say really. It kind of depends on how "far" your claim goes. On the psychiatric side of things, if assessed, it would be more problematic to prove to what extent mental health was affected at the time without a GP visit/diagnosis.

That said, if you are assessed psychiatric wise by an expert as part of the claim, you will have a chance to explain your reasons for wishing to manage things yourself. But be prepared for the other side to contest etc

Thank you @dontdoxmeeither I have had a bad time since having my baby and even beforehand with doctors, snide comments and sneers, disbelieving that I know my own body and generally not helpful comments that have left me feeling worse which is the reason I choose to manage (sometimes unsucessfully) without their help

Sorry to hear that. Is the negligence solely mental health based or is it, first and foremost, physical and due to that, MH has worsened?

If its a physical problem then no i don't see why your mental health should be an issue
