Do tennants have any Confidentiality or Data Protection rights?

Just that really .... I am in arrears but paying them off a agreed with Landlady.

Landlady has however been discussing my arrears with her friend which I wouldn’t mind so much in itself. But said friend who owns a shop has then been asking my colleagues if they know me and telling them all about my financial situation, arrears and how much I own in unpaid rent ect. Is there anyway I can stop this? It’s four different people now and counting ....

Landlords are bound by GDPR the same as everyone. You should have been given a Privacy Notice which will detail everyone who will legitimately be given your data. If your private info has been shared with people who you think shouldn't have access to it, I'd contact the ICO and ask them what to do.

Thank you ... if everything isn’t bad enough the fact it’s being discussed with all and sundry makes it even worse!
