Do we need probate?

My mother recently died, leaving, in all under 25,000 and a very straightforward 2 page will. Me and dd are executors and I have already been to her building society to be told all I need is a solicitor to sign a release form. Her bank account only had 2500 in it and I have informed them online and the rest is her pension which was saved - again they have been told. Do we need to get Probate or can we just get things sorted between us?

If the pension provider will release the death benefits to you with just an original copy of the death certificate probably not. Just ask what they need.

I'm not a solicitor. But when I last looked probate wasn't always needed if estate is under £60k.

Thank you. I thought as much
